Why I'm running
I'm running for School Board to expand opportunities for our students and help every kid succeed — in school, on the field, and in life — and to support our teachers and staff.
I've spent my whole life on teams. The great ones succeed when people are supported, everyone has a voice, and everyone is working toward something bigger than themselves. That's what I want for Saline schools.

Get enrollment growing again.
For more than five years, student enrollment has been dropping. Let's fix that. Families choose Saline for its schools — strong academics, strong programs, and good facilities are how we keep them choosing Saline and bring more families in.

Get Saline academics and athletics back to their “Top 10 in Michigan” status!
Every student should leave Saline prepared for what's next, whether that's a competitive university, a skilled trade, the military, or a technical program. All of it should be celebrated.

Invest in athletics and extracurricular activities.
Top-tier programs and facilities for athletics and extracurricular activities, including an indoor facility for year-round practice and competition that can be rented out when the district isn't using it — bringing in new revenue for the district and easing the burden on classroom budgets.

You'll see what everyone at the ballfield already knows: he's a teammate first. Matt grew up in Michigan and graduated from Eastern Michigan University, where he played baseball and is a member of the EMU Hall of Fame. He went on to play 16 seasons of professional baseball, ten of them in the major leagues, and served as a player representative for the Major League Baseball Players Association for almost a decade. While in the minor leagues, he spent three years as a substitute teacher. Today he coaches youth baseball, basketball, football, and soccer in Saline.
